Ontario Abandons the Environment
I have become more and more disenchanted with the Government of Ontario's environmental record. This summer they announced they were going to move the forest cut line north into the area of the endanger Woodland Caribou. At the same time we hear other countries are increasing their reforestationprogrammes. Canada has not participate in the study whish means here in Ontario we continues to clear cut large tracts of virgin forest. Where is Ontario's sustainable forest plan? On another issue the Government is going to allow an increase in the amount of phosphorous that can be put into Lake Simcoe. This is a fresh water system that is already stressed by the amount of urban development around it. Now today there is talk of keeping the coal fire power generation stations open longer. It seems to me this government is not serious about protecting our environment.
